Biography

Nirvan uses cryptography to build secure systems. His research focus has been on building systems that provide strong user privacy while also providing appropriate accountability against misbehavior. To do so, his research involves designing, implementing, and evaluating new cryptographic primitives -- most recently, his focus has been on zero-knowledge proofs. He has worked on projects with topics ranging from end-to-end encrypted messaging to decentralized anonymous payments to privacy-preserving metrics collection. Nirvan received his PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University and is currently working as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University. He will be joining the faculty at University of Washington in 2024.
