Token Bridge Infrastructure Review of MakerDAO

MakerDAO is the decentralized organization behind the DAI stablecoin and Multi-Collateral Dai system. As part of its expansion strategy, the protocol introduced an OP token bridge to support secure cross-layer token transfers between Ethereum and Optimism. This infrastructure ensures L1-to-L2 and L2-to-L1 asset flows are backed by appropriate collateral and governed by on-chain logic.

To assess the reliability of this bridge implementation, MakerDAO engaged Cantina for a security audits review of the relevant contracts. The audit focused on changes to escrow mutability and the introduction of a withdrawal cap system, both of which are crucial for ensuring predictable token behavior during governance-led upgrades.

Cantina supports protocols like MakerDAO with long-term protections such as bug bounty programs, crowdsourced security competitions, and multisig security, helping projects maintain operational safety across permissioned token bridges.
